MediaPilot vs AuthoredUp

One polishes. The other writes.

AuthoredUp is a very good editor for people who already know what to say. If the blank page is your problem rather than the formatting, you need a different kind of tool — so here is the alternative, honestly compared.

Different problems

Formatting is not the hard part

AuthoredUp's pricing page describes an editor with text styling and preview, a library of 300+ hooks and post endings, unlimited drafts and snippets, and content analytics. That is a real toolkit, and for someone who writes regularly it removes genuine friction — LinkedIn's own composer is poor and AuthoredUp's is not. What it does not do is write the post or make the picture. If you sit down on a Tuesday with nothing to say, a better editor does not help. MediaPilot starts one step earlier: it suggests the topic, writes the draft in your tone and generates the image, and you edit from there.

  • AuthoredUp: editor, hooks library, analytics
  • MediaPilot: topic, draft and image, then you edit
  • Both end with you approving every word

Where it runs

Inside LinkedIn, or alongside it

AuthoredUp works largely as a browser extension, so you write where you publish. That is convenient, and it is also a dependency: it lives inside a page LinkedIn controls and can change. MediaPilot publishes through the official LinkedIn API from its own dashboard. You leave LinkedIn to write and schedule, and come back to it to read the comments. Which you prefer is a working-style question more than a feature question.

  • AuthoredUp: browser extension inside LinkedIn
  • MediaPilot: own dashboard, official LinkedIn API
  • Neither asks for your LinkedIn password
